We all know that Foxy Bingo adverts are memorable, but now that fact has been proven beyond all doubt. An Adwatch survey conducted in September 2008 by TNS asked 1,000 adults how many television commercials they remembered seeing from a list of twenty. 47% of respondents remembered one or more adverts for Foxy Bingo, making it the third most memorable brand.

The two brands that beat Foxy Bingo to the top of the charts were Sky+ and Kellogg’s Coco Pops, but Foxy still managed to prove more memorable than 17 other top brands, including Sainsbury’s, Boots, L’Oreal Elvive and Admiral. The only other gaming-related brand to feature in the chart was The Sun Online Bingo site, which was the eighth most memorable brand.

Although we aren’t experts in the science of television advertising, we think that there are two main factors that determine how likely we are to remember seeing a commercial for a particular brand. One is exposure: the more often an advert is shown, the more likely we are to remember it. The other factor is originality, which includes humour. If our theory is right, it makes perfect sense why Foxy Bingo proved to be such a hit with viewers, because we have said all along that Foxy Bingo adverts are some of the most original commercials ever to be broadcast on UK television.

Regardless of why Foxy Bingo adverts are memorable, we’re pleased that the Adwatch survey has established their ranking among the viewing public. Will the purple-suited Foxy be able to beat the likes of Sky+ and Coco Pops to take the number one spot next year? We’ll just have to wait and see...
